Dorset Probation becomes a Trust

We are pleased to announce formally that Dorset passed those tests with some distinction and, due to an order laid in Parliament on 3rd February, is allowed to become a Trust on 1st April 2010. Dorset Probation Trust will be made up of two Local Delivery Units that will work with partners to meet local needs.  These units will provide a visible local presence for Probation in all communities and ensure that the diverse needs in different parts of the community are met.  The two units will be the Bournemouth and Poole Local Delivery Unit and the Dorset County Local Delivery Unit based on the County Council area.  Each of those units will have launch events in April to which you or your organisation will be invited, along with voluntary and private organisations, to look at how together the agencies can work to reduce crime even further across Dorset.

Dorset Probation Trust will ensure that services are continuously improved using the provider which delivers the best value for money, whether they are from the public, private or voluntary sector.
