Dorset Probation Trust (DPT) works closely with Health Services in the community, including Primary Care Trusts, to ensure that offender’s have suitable and appropriate access to health care regardless of circumstance or need.
DPT will work in partnership with health providers to ensure a joined up service in relation to offenders with mental health needs, to effectively manage any risk to the individual, staff and the public.
Throughout the Community Order, an offender will be encouraged to take action and/or access services to address their health and wellbeing needs. In some cases, this will form part of the sentence plan and may include:
- Addressing alcohol and drug dependancy
- Attending smoke stop clinics
- Registering with a local GP
- Receiving training in relation to healthy living / diet
- Attending parenting or family groups
