Based at Bournemouth Probation Office, The Dorset Accommodation Gateway is embedded within Dorset Probation Trust and is one of three Accommodation Gateway initiatives in the South West (the other two being Plymouth & Bristol). The Gateway works in partnership with Dorset Prisons, providing a single point of referral for Offender Managers to access accommodation and associated information, advice and support services.
Having commenced operations in September 2006, the Accommodation Gateway operates across Dorset, covering three Supporting People Authorities and eight Local Authority areas.
The Gateway seeks to influence the existing housing and support sector in Dorset by identifying offender’s accommodation needs and, where appropriate, remodelling resources and systems to match need. There is an emphasis in improving housing outcomes for high risk and vulnerable offenders, particularly PPOs, MAPPAs, females and BMEs.
